Natural Remedies for Asthma

Breathing exercise
Slow breathing or Pranayama as it is called is a very effective home remedy. Breathe in air slowly through the nose. Keep the air inside for a few seconds. Then exhale the air slowly. Repeat this for several times in a day. This is a very effective remedy which keeps the Asthma under control.

Perform mild Exercise
It has often been told for Asthma people to avoid doing exercise. This notion is partly correct. Those with Asthma can perform mild aerobic exercise. It is necessary that you do not exercise hard, so that you start consuming cold air which aggravates Asthma. You can take small steps from a 10 mins mild exercise and then slowly intensifying as days go by, when you start understanding your body and having control over it.



Keep Body weight under control
Make sure that you are not overweight. If you are overweight, take steps to reduce the weight. This will improve the overall health of the body and helps your body to fight Asthma easily.

Relax
Make sure that you lead a stress free and relaxed life. A life full of stress aggravates the Asthma. Also make sure that you do not have thoughts of the fear of getting Asthma whenever you are healthy and free from Asthma.


Simple Home Remedies for Asthma

Coffee
Coffee is one of the good remedies for Asthma. You can consume coffee regularly twice in a day. Coffee has the power to reduce the attacks of Asthma by about one thirds.

Onions
Onions are good medicines for treating Asthma. Do not consume raw onion, just because its too irritating. You can cook and consume as much onions as possible.

Pepper
Pepper is a good medicine commonly available which fights Asthma. They have a good effect on the respiratory tract and keep you away from Asthma.

Fruits rich in Vitamin C
It has been observed that most of the people with Asthma have Vitamin C deficiency. Such people can take a lot of fruits and juices rich in Vitamin C like Orange juice, papaya, strawberries, broccoli, etc.

Fishes

Yogurt is a good medicine for those with Asthma.

Peppermint extract
Take about a glass of water and boil it. Put about 10 drops of peppermint in it. Allow the contents to boil for about an hour. This oil extract which you get at the bottom is a very good home remedy for Asthma. You can inhale it. You can also make its odour to spread in the room.

Vegetarian Food
A vegetarian food is always a good food for preventing Asthma. Except for fish, all the other non vegetarian foods are enemies for Asthma.

Turmeric Milk
Consuming warm milk with mild turmeric (about half spoon) mixed in it helps keep Asthma away. This can be consumed on a daily basis.

Cloves
Cloves are a great remedy for Asthma. Take about four to five pieces of clove, crush them and mix with half a glass of water and a spoon of honey. This is an excellent decoction which acts as a medicine for Asthma.

Garlic
Similar to cloves, you can take cloves of garlic, crush them and boil them in a glass of milk. This can be taken regularly for acting against Asthma.

Water and Fluids
It has been told that people suffering from Asthma need to consume a lot of water. While its sufficient for a normal person to consume about 8 glasses of water per day, those with Asthma need to take at least 16 glasses of water on a daily basis.

Kiwi and Cinnamon
Cinnamon has a lot of immunity power, while Kiwi has a large amount of vitamins in it. Taking both together is good for our lungs. This has a marked improvement for those suffering from Asthma.

Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus is a great remedy that helps cure Asthma. You can have a few drops of the oil in the handkerchief and smell it now and then. Alternatively, you can mix a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in hot water and inhale the steam from it.

Honey
Honey is a great remedy for curing Asthma. You can mix a spoon full of honey in warm water and consume like this for three times in a day. This acts as a great remedy for Asthma.

Fig
The fig fruit has the natural property to promote respiratory health. It reduces the breathing difficulties drastically. You can buy dried fig fruits which are available in the market. Soak about 2 to 3 pieces of them in water when going to sleep at night. When you get up in the morning, consume them in empty stomach. This brings great relief to Asthma.
